As the current increases, the light pipe's life will be proportionally reduced. A significant change in contrast near the light's source will take place

Q3: Does XRD use the same kind of LED's for array and edge lit LCD modules?
No. Special High Bright LED chips are used in edge lit LCD modules

Q4: What is the widest operating range XRD offers with TN technology?
XRD is capable of manufacturing TN LCD glass panels of -50 to +90 C operating temperature range, one of the widest in the industry.

Q5: What is the widest operating range XRD offers with STN technology?
The widest operating temperature range for STN glass from Tianma is -30 to +85 C. The clearing point for STN glass with operating temperature to +80 C is at as high temperature as 120 C.

Q6: What happens when an LCD display is operated below 0 degree?
The response time (of STN displays significantly) is slowed, contrast is affected. If an LCD module was to be exposed to temperatures, either above or below the specified temperature ranges for a prolonged period of time, it would cause unrecoverable damage to the module. More specifically, it would permanently alter the chemical properties of the fluid. CCFL backlight life is dramatically reduced

Q7: Can Tianma change the operating voltage of standard character LCD modules from 5V to 3,3V?
Yes. Since the company sandwiches and seals its own glass, modifications of standard LCD's are possible. Tianma can substitute the liquid crystal fluid with a new mixture to provide necessary supply voltage range. An accordingly tooling will be necessary

Q8: Is it possible to substitute the heat seal connection of some standard chip-on-glass LCD modules with pin interface?
XRD can reasonably substitute a heat seal with pins only on certain standard COG LCD modules that do not require redesigning / widening the glass panels. The pin interface will allow self-aligning connection of LCD modules to PCB via plug in sockets. This modification requires appropriate tooling
 
Q9: How reliable are heat seal connectors that XRD implements in its LCD modules?
Heat Seal is one of the conventional types of interface. Heat seal is very flexible and eligible for connecting a large number of terminals simultaneously by single sealing operation. It consists of microscopic metal particles within the Hot Melt Adhesive covering the entire area being terminated including the spaces as well as the traces. This type of connection confines those metal particles exclusively to the conductive trace. XRD's heat seal vendors, Nippon Graphite and Shinetsi, assure electrical conduction and insulation with the best heat seals on the market.
 
Q10: Is it possible to visit XRD's manufacturing facilities in China to witness production process?
Interested customers are welcome to visit Tianma's factories. There is no need in a special visa, as long as the visit is limited within 72 hours in the Hong Kong and Shenzhen area. That industrial territory of China has a special policy which allows travelers to stay in the area for three full days. Visitors are invited to take a guided tour.
